What are themes?
PurpleSites uses themes to jump-start the design process. They are a set of backgrounds, headers, menu systems, and colors. We were noticing that almost all websites fall into a certain common set of elements and most web designers were charging for those repetitive programming tasks by calling them "complete websites from scratch." We don't build our websites from scratch for a very good reason. We can do it cheaper and faster by re-using common programming and then customizing the site from there. If you're happy with a established theme as-is, your site can be up and running in record time. Want some customization? No problem. Because the theme has most of the main programming taken care of, those customizations will come at a fraction of the cost.
Think of it this way:
We could do your site the long way, much like long division. But they developed the calculator, an amazing invention, so that we no longer have to do division the long way again. We know how to do long division ;-) We could code your site in HTML, CSS, and ActionScript by hand, but we use the web-equivilant of the calculator: Themes.
